At 874, Labor Candidate Victories Continue to Mount

Wednesday, May 11, 2016
The New Jersey State AFL-CIO Labor Candidates program is one-of-a-kind, helping to achieve labor representation across every level of New Jersey government since 1997. With each additional victory, working families secure a stronger voice in our democratic process.

We are proud to congratulate two labor elected officials on their recent election victories. Brother Robert Russo, AFT 6025 was reelected to serve another term on the Montclair Council. Sister Donna Williams, OPEIU 153, won reelection to the City of Orange Council. Furthermore, we congratulate Latham Tiver, IUOE 825 on his appointment to serve on the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders. These three victories bring the total win count to 874.

There are 146 labor elected officials currently serving in New Jersey, due to the New Jersey State AFL-CIO’s incredibly successful program. These victories would not have been possible without the continuous and generous support of our affiliates, Central Labor Councils and Building Trades Councils.

We thank you all for supporting our Labor Candidates Program, and we are especially indebted to our labor candidates, whose dedication to public service help make our state better for all working families.
