More than 1,000 of our UNITE HERE Local 54 brothers and sisters have been on strike at the Trump Taj Mahal since last Friday. These workers and the community refuse to tolerate greedy billionaires who exploit Atlantic City and enrich themselves at the expense of working families.
In order to combat the damage being done by organized greed, we are calling on the support of all sectors of organized labor to join our brothers and sisters on the picket line being run around the clock. Please also spread the word to your friends and family to honor the strike. If you are attending a conference or meeting in Atlantic City, be sure to stop by and show your support.
Workers at the Trump Taj Mahal have been under siege by billionaire Carl Icahn, who has stripped away health care and pension benefits from casino workers and taken away their half-hour paid meal break. Workers have sacrificed long enough to make the Trump Taj Mahal a success and deserve to earn decent wages and benefits to take care of their families.
The best way to ensure the success of the Taj Mahal is to fairly compensate workers who make up the local community. It’s time for Carl Icahn to make a choice between supporting the long-term success of Atlantic City and using workers to make a quick profit. The New Jersey State AFL-CIO will stand steadfast with our Local 54 brothers and sisters as long as it takes to make sure the right choice is made.
